September's Girl Hero: Andrea Gomes Morrison
The start of a new school year brings a new Executive Director to lead Girls on the Run Puget Sound. Help us welcome Andrea to the GOTR Community!
I am so excited to join this powerhouse as it continues to celebrate 20 transformative years, supporting girls across our region.
As a mom of a 4th grade girl, I see firsthand what our kids are experiencing each and every day. The lessons and skills they learn through our program are preparing them to manage life’s stressors, especially the added challenges in our pandemic world.
I come to this role having worked in both non-profits and a small business. Most recently, I led the Fred Hutch Obliteride and worked alongside my husband at our two running stores, Fleet Feet Seattle and Ballard.
I am one and a half weeks into this role. Still verrrrrry new and appreciate the warm welcome by Izzy, Haylie, Happie, Maya, and our Board. We have big goals for this year as we continue to expand the program to reach more girls throughout our region and create a program where all girls who want to participate, can do so without financial barriers.
A few more things about me – I was born and raised in Seattle, I looooooove Pearl Jam, I also have a middle school aged son, and enjoy getting out on trail runs with friends. I am also a newly minted GOTR Coach as of Saturday and am coaching my daughter’s GOTR program this Fall!
My “door” is open, and I want to meet you! I invite you to reach out and let me know why you love and support GOTR. We can grab a coffee, a Zoom, or some shared miles in our running shoes.
