March's Girl Hero: Haylie Prohaska
We celebrate Haylie Prohaska who, after 1.5 years with Girls on the Run Puget Sound, has taken on a new role outside our organization. Haylie started with us as our Volunteer Coordinator and jumped right into getting to know our many volunteers and working to bring new supporters in to share their star power with GOTRPS. She quickly gained many fans as coaches knew they could count on her to answer their questions and get their teams up and running.
During her time with us, she worked tirelessly to recruit the heart of our volunteer group – our coaches! Coming out of COVID, we have grown quickly with many first-time schools bringing GOTR to their communities. Haylie recruited many new coaches to support the growing numbers of teams. She also introduced the role of Superstar Supporter, allowing more amazing volunteers to share their Star Power with our teams. Through thorough training, thoughtful appreciation, and loving support, Haylie made sure to take care of our coaches.
Later during her time with us, she added Communications Coordinator to her title and tapped into her talents gained during her undergraduate studies. She became our voice both via the newsletter and in our social media. Haylie championed our Girl Heroes and supporters and told their stories to the world.
While we don’t get to see her regularly and chat about Fantasy Football or the latest Mariners game, she’s told us she isn’t going far and plans on volunteering at our 5k this spring! Haylie, thank you for everything you did to strengthen our program. Your work has touched thousands of girls, and for that, we’re giving you the biggest Energy Award!
