September's Girl Hero

Diane

Meet Diane, our September Girl Hero! Diane is a long-time volunteer with Girls on the Run Puget Sound and first began her journey about 10 years ago. Diane shared, "I am a second grade teacher with Seattle Public Schools and I started off my journey with GOTR as a running buddy, then volunteered as a Coach, changed schools, and became a Site Liaison and still coach to this day!" One of her favorite things about Girls on the Run is getting to know new and former students in different ways! She loves that GOTR inspires the participants to work together, persevere, and try new things. Diane's favorite part about being a GOTR coach is the 5K and seeing the participants cross the finish line. "Their faces are full of pride and accomplishment for finishing 3.1 miles. It is worth it every year, those weeks of lessons and running laps after long school days, to see them shine at the 5K and celebrate their hard work in such an exciting environment.”

Thank you, Diane, for everything you do for Girls on the Run and the youth in our community!
