April's Girl Hero

April Girl Hero Phillippia Goldsmith

We are thrilled to introduce our April Girl Hero, Phillippia Goldsmith! Phillippia is a long-time Girls on the Run champion, and we are so grateful for everything she does for the girls in our community! Phillippia describes Girls on the Run as being FIERCE, FUN, and REWARDING!

When asked about how she first got started with GOTR, Phillippia said, "GOTR and I go way back! My now 26-year-old daughter participated in Girls on the Run when she was in 4th grade at Concord Elementary. When I became a Community Builder for Seattle Housing Authority, it was imperative that I bring this amazing program to the girls in the Southeast Seattle community!" In her work with the SHA community, a favorite highlight of Phillippia’s from being involved in Girls on the Run was when she volunteered to make embroidered race bids for the girls on the Rainier Vista Community Team. “What a joy to see the girls take pride in their community all while creating healthy lifestyles through GOTR,” Phillippia remembers.

Another memorable moment for Phillippia was during the Fall 2022 5K at NewHolly. She shared that “the girls had to complete their 5K in the dark. Not only did they have their family and friends in attendance to cheer them on, but one girl's mom and uncle also joined her as she ran her laps. The true definition of family support!”

Thank you, Phillippia!
