July's Girl Hero

Kristi Herriott

Meet Kristi, our July Girl Hero! Kristi has been a supporter of Girls on the Run for many years and is now serving as our Board Chair for the Girls on the Run Puget Sound Board of Directors.

When asked about her involvement, Kristi shared, "Girls on the Run has been near and dear to me for many years, and it’s been such a joy to volunteer in many different roles—now for more than a decade! Before becoming a board member, I served on several committees, supporting the council in various ways. Still, it wasn’t until several years into volunteering that I finally saw the curriculum in action as a Superstar Supporter. It was incredible to see the messages of empowerment, self-confidence, and well-being resonating and to witness the girls building teamwork and stamina to achieve their goals of crossing the 5K finish line together."

A highlight from Kristi's time with GOTR, was the Regional 5K Celebration this spring. "I got to volunteer at the 5K finish line," Kristi said. "Cheering on more than 1,500 girls as they reached the end of the 5K. My hands hurt from clapping, my cheeks were sore from smiling, and I shed more than a few happy tears watching the pure joy of every girl achieve this awesome accomplishment. Without fail, I always leave the 5K inspired and so grateful for the impact of this program."

Thank you, Kristi!
